My
approach views therapy as a dialogue
focusing on resolving issues and difficulties in the lived
experience of the client. Therapy is also very much about the
meeting between the therapist and the client. As a therapist I bring
myself as a person to the therapeutic encounter, rather than taking
a neutral stance. This stance structures therapy as a cooperative
venture in which the work is done collaboratively. I prefer to
engage with the issues that the clients bring to therapy and what
they consider important in their lives at that point. This way of
exploration allows for various possibilities to emerge and possibly
promote change.
Confidentiality is a fundamental cornerstone in my practice.
Confidentiality creates a safe and private environment, in which
clients are welcome to openly discuss any issues they wish to raise.
Sessions are usually offered on a one to one basis although group and
couple therapy can be considered.
Philosophy, in
particular recent existential thinkers, is prominent in my practice.
Through it I continuously reflect on the complexity of being human.
My approach is also informed by psychological paradigms that were
part of my training. I use them in a phenomenological manner with
relevancy to the material discussed in the sessions.
I aim that therapy would bring about examination of the complexity
of being alive with patience, understanding and empathy.
